BJP chief Nabin highlights historic steps for Sikh community, from 1984 justice to Kartarpur Sahib corridor

Rudrapur (Uttarakhand), Sep 10 (SocialNews.XYZ) Addressing the Punjabi Gaurav Sammelan in Uttarakhand's Rudrapur, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Nabin paid heartfelt tribute to the sacrifices and supreme devotion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the four Sahibzadas, and called upon the people to collectively contribute towards building a 'Viksit Bharat by 2047'.

He said that the sacred land of Nanakmatta Sahib, where Guru Nanak Dev Ji had visited during his third Udasi, is a source of timeless inspiration.

He also paid his respects to the sacred sites of Hemkund Sahib, Nanakmatta Sahib and Reetha Sahib, emphasising the deep spiritual and historical connection of the Sikh community with Uttarakhand.

Recalling the pain of the 1984 anti-Sikh massacre, Nabin said that the perpetrators remained unpunished for three decades.

He highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in 2015, thereby advancing the process of justice.

He said the nation would never forget the suffering of innocent Sikh families and that the BJP would never forget this painful chapter of history.

"For decades, the pain of the 1984 anti-Sikh massacre remained a deep wound in the nation's conscience. The perpetrators were not punished for three decades. In 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji constituted an SIT, advancing the process of justice and reaffirming that the suffering of innocent Sikh families could never be forgotten. The nation remembers the tragedy, honours the victims, and remains committed to justice," he added.

"The same commitment to correcting historic wrongs is reflected in the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. For 72 years, devotees could only have darshan of the sacred shrine through binoculars. On November 9, 2019, PM Modi opened the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, transforming a decades-old aspiration into reality and reconnecting devotees with the sacred land where Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent 18 years of his life," Nabin said.

"The Modi government is also working to make pilgrimage more accessible. The difficult journey to Hemkund Sahib will soon become easier with the Rs 2,700 crore ropeway project, enabling devotees to complete the journey and have darshan in just 45 minutes," the BJP Chief added.

"Alongside infrastructure and connectivity, the Union government has also recognised the sacrifices of the Sahibzadas by observing December 26 as Veer Bal Diwas."

"From Nanakmatta Sahib to Hemkund Sahib and Reetha Sahib, Uttarakhand's sacred land carries the timeless inspiration of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the four Sahibzadas. Their sacrifice, courage and supreme devotion continue to inspire every generation to serve the nation," the BJP Chief said.

"The Government's resolve extends beyond pilgrimage and heritage. Just as Naxalism was eradicated from large parts of the country, the Central government has now resolved to make Punjab, along with the rest of India, drug-free. Through the Nasha Mukt Yuva Sankalp Abhiyan, every citizen, especially the youth, is called upon to become part of this national mission," Nabin asserted.

He also said that the Sikh community has made an extraordinary contribution to India's freedom, agriculture, national security and nation-building.

The development of Punjab and Uttarakhand must now become an integral part of the larger resolve to build a 'Viksit Bharat by 2047', he added.

"From delivering justice and reconnecting devotees with Kartarpur Sahib to strengthening pilgrimage infrastructure and fighting drugs, the message is clear: honouring our heritage must go hand in hand with building our future. Together, Punjab and Uttarakhand can contribute to a stronger, prosperous and Viksit Bharat by 2047."
